Margaret,
This is ow I nursed mine from the start and through the 3-4 years they  
nursed, except at night.  I learned it when I was little watching my  aunties and 
my mother feed their 6-11 children each.  I'm the eldest of 114  first cousins 
combining both sides of the family.  It worked for me and I  never knew from 
cross cradle or asymetrical whatever.  However, lots of  tools for lots of 
types! I think that's one of the things that allows an LC to  be called 
experienced.  I also don't remember nursing lying down with my  newborn in the hospital. 
 I was always sitting up.  THEY wouldn't let  us lie down in bed with the 
baby.
