Thank you for all the great thoughts on dealing with "difficult dads".  Now another question:

An out of state couple tells me they had their first OB appointment and came away with one of those darn bags.  They were intrigued by the marketing techniques and array of supplies.  (Interesting that all this would be heaped on a woman who's newly pregnant - a bit like giving prescription acne medication to an 8 year old... just in case, don't you know.)

They find that the bottle of ready-to-feed formula has an expiration date of August 1... and she's due at the end of August.  So in essence an MD has given her out-of-date formula.  Suggestions on what they - or I as an unrelated out-of-stater - might do?  

My first thought was to urge them to write to the office involved with a copy to the ethics committee of the hospital where it has privileges - both about the unethical giving of the bag and the layering of unethical behavior by including an expired food product.  My second thought is that lactnetters can do even better...
