Ann-Marie's update on the baby fussing before feedings states:
"The physician diagnosed reflux and prescribed meds. Mom says it has helped
immensely and she is now able to enjoy nursing her baby! We didn't have to
use the nipple shields that finally came in the mail and the baby is back
the breast. I am so happy for them and will stick this possibility in the
back of my mind if I ever come upon a similar situation again as a
possibility to have checked out."
I am wondering how a symptom has become a diagnosis? Is is b/c meds have been created to "treat" it?
This baby may have relief of symptoms (often temporary), but what about the underlying cause of the reflux?
Will it ever be treated? It could be oversupply, OAMER, food allergies or a tongue-tie. It could be a structural
problem easily treated with CST or chiropractic? Any of these left untreated can have have far greater
consequences long-term than the reflux itself. I wonder why no one is concerned about depletion of zinc,
B12, iron, vitamin D or folic acid associated withe use of these meds?
