Hi Royce. I had a similar situation with someone that I thought had stopped
bf and then would call out of the blue. What I asked her to do was to send
me a 3 day diary of what the baby was eating, how often he was put to the
breast, supplemented, how much she was pumping etc. I had the feeling that
she was not following my advice; that is that she was giving lots of
formula, not pumping, etc and then would call upset. I felt that if she did
a 3 day diary, it would help me to see what was going on, help to clarify to
her what was going on and prove to me that the commitment was still there
(just for the fact that she would think it important enough to think about
it and write it down for 3 days). She never did the diary, called once
more; I again told her I needed it in order to make any kind of educated
guess as to what was going on. Never got it. Just thought this may be
helpful to you if you find that it's difficult to help because you feel like
you're missing so much of the picture.

Good luck! Carolyn Schindewolf, BS, LCCE, IBCLC
