Hi All,
I just got off the phone with a woman who is struggling at 3 wks with low
milk supply. She has this antiphospholipids condition and needed to be on
Heparin and do IVF to keep her pregnancy. I need to know if anyone has any
information on whether or not this condition can affect milk supply.
Her supply has piddled in and is hanging out at 1 ounce every 2 hours.
Clearly not enough for a 3 wk old. I have her talking to her Dr about a
full blood work hormone panel and ruling out retained placenta (just in
case!). As a side note, her sister had the same problem with milk supply
with both 1st and 2nd babies - but with 2nd baby her supply suddenly came in
at 4 weeks or so. I don't know about you all, but this screams hormonal to
me.
I searched the LN archives and came up with only 1 entry on this condition
back in 1998. Anyone else have any updated information or experience with
this?
