"warning" on boxes of Zyrtec (brand name for antihistamine cetirizine):
"If breast-feeding: not recommended; If pregnant: ask a health professional" (is it saying not recommended to use Zyrtec while breastfeeding or not recommended to breastfeed while taking Zyrtec?!)
I'm used to seeing the generic statement re: meds and breastfeeding to "ask your health care professional" (usually to be given incorrect/inaccurate info like "don't take the med," "pump and dump," "stop breastfeeding" etc) but this really surprised me! it's blatantly inaccurate/unsupported information on drug packaging.
Zyrtec is L2 in Hale and there are several items in the archives about it (and vs. other antihistamines) with sedation, milk supply, etc, but have any of you experienced a "warning" like this that doesn't even recommend consulting a doctor/pharmacist? how do I deal with this? how many lactnetters does it take to get a medicine box reworded!?!?!?
thanks,
