Wow, thats great. I have a RN lisence, got my IBCLC, provide the unit most
all the information regarding research, scientific rationale, educate pts and
staff and do not receive anything above my basic RN wage. I know a nurse
who wanted to do just LC and the wage would be less than if she was hired
under a RN and did some floor work along with the LC position. She took the
RN position, but her passion is breastfeeding. She works on a post partum
floor. Some days as a floor nurse and some days as a LC when I'm off. I wish
we knew more about salaries. It is such a sensitive subject. I'm not
complaining I earn a good wage, but I have more responsibilities to both. I
must be certified in NRP and keep up with all RN classes in addition to my
hours i put into learning and keeping up with ever changing world of lactation.
