Just wanted join the discussion for a moment regarding the various products
and their mention on Lactnet. While I totally understand and support the
list's guidelines regarding advertising, I'm also a little sad to think that
we can't have ANY discussion among ourselves regarding products that are out
there and that the mother's we see are using.
Personally, running a small private practice, I really really WANT
to know what other LC's think about certain products that are out there and
what the experiences have been among the moms who have tried them. This
helps me have some idea about what's out there and something about it when
moms ask me! One person just can't keep up with everything - and certainly
the printed ads for the various companies are not a place to get objective
opinions about a product. As long as nothing is said that is obviously
slanderous and derogatory about a product (which could put us at risk for a
lawsuit), and no one is excessively pitching a product (ex "only buy..."),
is it really such a bad thing to share opinions? If the general opinion of
a product is good... then yes, it may benefit that company... but if they're
really doing a good job, is that so bad?
I certainly understand that if you're in a country that doesn't have
a particular product that's being discussed it might be boring... but we
always have some posts that are more applicable to each of us than other
posts.
Is there any way for us to have a professional-level discussion of
'what's out there' without it violating policy?

Honestly interested...not trying to stir up anything...
