"Look at the number of posts in Lactnet that describe the frustrations of LCs who practice in hostile hospital environments, who have no say in ridiculous hospital practices, who cannot actually do their job because hospitals insist on feeding their addiction to formula company handouts."

Or even just to a bottle-feeding culture in general. Keren Epstein-Gilboa, some years back, proposed a "gingerbread house" theory for why we're hired and why we can't seem to do the very job for which we were hired. In the Hansel and Gretel story, the witch decorated her house with all sorts of appealing goodies to lure the children inside. Once they were inside, the agenda changed completely. Birthing rooms with pretty curtains? Lactation consultants on staff? All part of the goodies that decorate the house.
