Hi again Jaye,
I don't have a reference handy, but i'm pretty sure it was the medela rep who told me that the pressures on their pumps should be 180 - 220 mmg. This has worked well as a guideline for me in testing Lactinas, Symphonys, Hollister Elites, Purely Yours, PNS & PNSA
I have moms bring in their old pumps if they start to get less than they were initially and I have "caught" several pumps that way... ie, they bring them in while pregnant and the pressure is 200mmg and then they bring them in at 1-2 months and the pressure is 175... they can *see* for themselves that the pump is dying.
Since I rent lactinas and symphonys, I test the vacuum before they are rented, in front of the renter to show that the pump is working correctly. I've had to return a few over the years to Medela because the suction was below 180.
I *think* this info might also be in the BAB at the back in the appendix...
Hope this helps,
Cindi
PS, I test on the highest suction at the highest speed. If it can do at least 180 mmg, then it's ok. Except the Symphony, when I do the highest suction but the lower speed.

Subject: Pumps and gauges...specs?
Hi All,
Does anyone have a good link or form that tells what the PSI should be for
pumps? I have a couple moms who are complaining about their pumps (not
hospital grade) - I have a gauge and need to know what exactly to look for
to ensure the pumps are working correctly.
Thanks!
