But at the same time, it can be very encouraging and help mom get over
the hump of *starting* elimination, if she knows that she may see some
improvement within two or three days. IME, babies may still be having
diarrhea at that point (and generally are, unless mom caught the issue
very early), but they are clearly happier and more comfortable within a
matter of days. When mom's nerves are fried because she is deeply
bonded to an utterly miserable baby, that little bit of improvement can
be a glorious light at the end of the tunnel.
