Materials for health care professionals are supposed to be "scientific
and factual" not glossy with no scientific information, so the claim
that the brochure is for healthcare professionals is still not kosher
under the Code.
We do need to hold *all* the companies we deal with to the same
standard, and insist that if they want us to sell their wares, they need
to protect breastfeeding. I will be looking for alternatives to Medela
products if they do not withdraw this brochure. And I don't sell pumps
or breastfeeding equipment made by bottle or baby food companies that do
not adhere to the Code either, even when mothers like them. They can buy
them at the drugstore if they like, but I'm not going to promote or
recommend them.
I hope Evenflo keeps their promise, I like the modifications they have
made to their website already. That should put pressure on some of the
other companies to do the right thing.
