With my postpartum doula clients, I have always said that sterilization of bottles, nipples, pacifiers only need to be sterilized before the first use as they have been  handled by manufactures, packagers, etc. After that, washing with hot soapy water and rinsing well is enough, as even breasts are not sterile; it is not a sterile world. When it comes to sterilizing breast pump parts, I say the same. For moms who can barely keep up with pumping/nursing because of complications I say because breastmilk is good for at least 5 hours they also can get away with just rinsing breast flanges after each pumping with hot water and laying them on a paper towel to air dry for that long. I would love to be corrected if I am missing something.
