With a half-life of 20 minutes to 1.5 hours, the entire dose would be
metabolized in 100 minutes to 7.5 hours. Hale states that the medication is
extremely unlikely to enter breastmilk. Do you have access to a Hale's
Medications and Mothers' Milk? Perhaps your radiologist would like to learn
more about this topic.

Best wishes,

(wondering if these mothers had a labor induction...)

Is there a definitive answer to a mother regarding a CT scan using Optiray
as a contrast medium? I have had several cases recently with new moms
requiring CT scans to rule out pulmonary emboli on day 2 postpartum.

Our hospital radiologist says 48 hours of interruption of breastfeeding.
Last week he gave in and said he would allow breastfeeding in 24 hrs. My
info
says Optiray is not a problem.

Is there a general rule I can give moms and staff?
