I noticed a few things on the Dr. Morton video. One mom looked like she
could have used Reverse Pressure Softening, she had the 28 wk baby I think.
One mom looked engorged, tight and shiny, or maybe she had breast
implants??? That's what it looked like. Another shot looked like mature
milk, and I thought she should have been getting more out at that stage, so
I do wonder how effective that technique is. When the moms expressed by
themselves, they did not use the Dr's technique. They seemed to naturally
express closer to the areola.
I use a different technique than in the video, too, and I get colostrum
(usually) on the first maneuver. It does not take a long while to see the
milk coming, although I do agree, more comes with the milk ejection reflex.
It was interesting how Dr. Morton expressed with her hands in the vertical
plane, not in a horizontal "C". Certainly one's hands can be rotated but I
usually start in the horizontal "C". There are several ways to express.
Sometimes I go back and roll forward, sometimes I just compress. Just some
musings.
