Have a mom who is producing way too much milk. She is pumping and
bottlefeeding her 4 week old (small mouth large nipple issue) and pumps
upwards of 60 ounces per day. Baby only takes 26. She just donated ove 200
ounces to another mom whose baby needs some supplementation and isn't doing
well on formula.

Questions: Mom has dropped back to pumping only every 4-5 hours (down from
q 3 hours). This has been her routine now for about 8 days. The supply is
NOT decreasing - it is INCREASING. I suspect Hyper-prolactinemia and have
sent her to the Doc to get some levels drawn. Not sure if that is what I
should be looking for as this is a bit out of my expertise, but mom is
really interested and we are looking at all options. We will start sage and
decreasing pumping to 5-6 hours after the blood draw to see if that will
help.

Thoughts? Mom has had no other hormonal issues - the is baby #2 - she did
NOT have these issues with baby #1. Am I missing something??

Thanks!
