I have been reading the archives about lactose intolerance because I have
just had a call from a mum who's baby is 8 weeks old, born 14/8/2007 by
emergency c section for a breech presentation. Baby had 2 osteopathic
treatment.   No problems with breastfeeding until around the 4 weeks when
baby became fussy, pulling off the breast, green bowel motions but gaining
at least 300 - 350 grams per week.  Mum restricted her diet (no dairy
products) but there was no change in the behavior of the baby at the breast.
Mum mentioned that she started expressing for a few minutes to decrease the
amount of foremilk the baby took and there was improvement, but she hasn't
continued the expressing as she also has a 17month old toddler to care for
Baby now 8 weeks and still has green bowel motions, fussing at the breast,
still has 300-350 weight gain.    Can this be foremilk/hindmilk imbalance as
I have read about on lactnet? and is the only solution available to block
feed?
