I too have worked with breastfeeding mothers over 25 years and I have
definelty seen mothers with insufficient milk supply even with latching,
pumping, herbs, medications etc and lots of work and devotion. There are
situations of insufficient intake vs supply. However, there are times when
mothers just do not have enough milk.Sometimes part breastmilk and part
formula or banked human milk are needed. What part of the human body always
works? There are plenty of kidnyes, hearts, livers, lungs etc that
malfunction for a variety of reasons. Not every woman can get pregnant. Some
do with a lot of science, but some do not despite a great amount of medical
effort. Our job is to optimize the chance that the baby can get as much
breastmilk as possible. and when needed use banked donor milk or formula
(formula being more likely at this time.) Research regarding physiological
issues that relate to lactation continues to be needed. Ann Anderson
