Since you are in/near Perth, why don't you try contacting Donna Geddes
and having an ultrasound done during breastfeeding? The flicking
sensation you describe could be the result of a sucking
compensation/problem. Your local ABA counselor should know how to
contact Donna, as the ABA provides most of her research participants.
Once you know what your baby is doing "wrong", there may be a way to
change it. A speech pathologist would be the person to go to for help,
or an IBCLC who works with sucking problems may be able to help.
There's no easy, fast answer for many of these suck problems, but many
of them can be improved.
Catherine Watson Genna, IBCLC NYC
