I wonder if the comment has nothing to do with the breastfeeding but that the particular mother may be seen as too much out of the mainstream of society (the obviously artificially colored hair). By featuring this picture on the cover (not by its being one of the 12 in the calandar) some might see it as indicating (or proving, depending on where they are coming from) that breastfeed is a "hippie" thing. This is unfortunately the attitude among some people today. As breastfeeding advocates we may look only at the mother and baby and their interaction first. Sometimes we have to step back and ask ourselves what others might see in the picture and ask ourselves if there is another possible "message" that could lead others to not see the beauty of the nursing couplet.
