I received a phone call from a mom today - infant is 4 months old, nursing
well. Mother has been taking 10mg of Lexapro per day for the past 7 weeks
with no problems. She is increasing this dose to 15mg. Her main concern is
that her infant's stools have become extremely smelly and have changed in
consistency from yellow cottage cheesey to slimy with mucous. She says the
stench is so horrible that she feels like throwing up.

The only change to the mother's diet has been Boost drinks which she takes 3
times per day (she says this helps with her depression). Could this cause such
a problem?

Thanks,
Brenda Phipps, BS, IBCLC
