isn't she getting her period? there is pain in nipples and decrease in prodution.
has she talked to the baby (sorry, i may seem mad insisting, but it really helps 
many times) about the stressful period she is going through?
is it really impossible to give breast instead of pumping? i mean, how painful is 
it?
can she relax and spend time with the kid? maybe he is getting ready to eat 
other things? and her production is decreased but not finished, so...
i would wait with the hormonal panel. if she breastfed ok for 2 times and for 9 
months, i don't believe there is anything very important from a medical point 
of view. probably all other factors are interfering with breastfeeding.
