Dentists and oral surgeons also do frenectomies. The newest, cutting edge
technique of doing a frenectomy is with a laser. A quick simple snip is still
the best, but for those who are uncomfortable doing it that way, a laser is
an excellent way to do a frenectomy. Usually, only a topic anesthetic is
needed for a thicker frenum. Equipment is expensive so not every dentist will
have a unit.
One recommendation on how to find a dentist in your area who uses a laser is
to go to www.biolase.com and go to the section - find a Waterlase dentist in
your area. Call all in your area to see who does them and how many they have
done. You might also want to go in for a consultation to meet the dentist
first. If they don't understand why you are wanting a frenectomy done, refer
them to my website. They are now doing fillings with lasers without even
needing anesthetic.
I have no financial interest in the company. You will have to use your own
judgment about following through with the procedure.
