an easy alternative would be for him to get the albion labs chelated
iron - ferrochel. it's highly highly absorbable even in the presence
of calcium. it's the safest of the available iron forms (ito overdose
potential) and totally non-constipating.
last time i checked, i was able to find liquids, powders,
capsules.....capsules could be opened into small amounts of breastmilk
if there was not an appropriate liquid. iirc kirkmanlabs.com sells a
5 mg capsule that could easily managed. a helpful compounding
pharmacist might even be persuaged to use the kirkman product to make
an appropriate liquid.
