Oh, Margery! I can only imagine your extreme frustration!! So, so unfair, not
just with respect to all your hard work, but to the mothers who live in your
area and are 'cared' for by your old hospital.

Though I do support health care workers of all kinds becoming trained in
breastfeeding support, education, and initiation strategies, I think your
example demonstrates why ONLY the IBCLC should be considered a lactation
professional. After all, if a just-passed-the-exam-for-the-first-time IBCLC is
considered ENTRY LEVEL, what then are all the others who are not IBCLC's?!?

I mean no disrespect to my esteemed colleagues here or at large who are not
IBCLC's but who are very good at what they do. As far as I am concerned,
anyone who works with breastfeeding mothers outside of the mother-to-
mother support realm who is NOT already an IBCLC should be working towards
becoming one.

Blessings!
