These moms need to see a physician for their non-healing nipple wounds. 
Fortunately, there are several wonderful breastfeeding medicine docs in 
the NY Metro area, as well as dermatologists and their own midwives or 
obstetricians, who may well be able to culture the wound and prescribe 
something appropriate.

If you can't help them become comfortable breastfeeding, refer them on 
to someone more experienced, please. We all need to know when to refer 
moms and babies up the ladder.
