I have no idea if this is applicable or not but when I was born, my mother  
was given some type of blood replacement substance (by IV) and she  experienced 
an allergic reaction to it.  Her vision was blurry  for months afterward and 
she subsequently had to begin wearing  glasses.  She said she couldn't see my 
face clearly for a long time.   Perhaps this woman's system is reacting to 
something else that happened during  the birth process.
