There is a difference in scales according to how much you pay. Perhaps 
physician offices do not purchase the same high quality and high cost 
scales that we IBCLCs use. My personal scale is a Tanita BLB12 and cost 
$800. This company makes it for Medela and it is the Baby Weigh, at a 
higher cost.

You can buy something else for a lot cheaper. I had a WIC client pay a 
scale at JC Penny's for $50. Our scales were 2 ounces off. So when we 
complain about the accuracy or not accuracy of scales, please remember 
we are using highly precise equipment accurate down to 2 grams. I do not 
know of a doctor's office that has this quality of scale.
