Hello everyone!

I need your help and guidance on this one as I have no clue what to think or
how to help this mom. Here is the story.

Mom delivered her first baby vaginally about a month and a half ago. She
had an uncomplicated pregnancy and an uncomplicated birth. Not sure about
medication. She had intended to breastfeed and did try at the hospital but
had a really painful experience so she decided to stop putting baby to the
breast and to pump and feed baby expressed breast milk in a bottle. Milk
came in no problem and both baby and mom were doing great. Baby was taking
milk fine and gaining weight well. About a month into pumping, she had
mastitis and had to get antibiotics. She continued to pump but 2 days after
starting the antibiotics, baby started to refuse taking her milk. He would
spit it out and gag on it. She supplemented with formula and kept pumping
and freezing her milk. After the antibiotics were over, baby still wouldn't
take her milk. It has been 2 weeks now and baby still won't drink her milk.
He takes formula fine but refuses the breast milk. She hasn't changed
anything in her diet, soap, perfume or activity level. Her menses haven't
returned. She has tried feeding frozen, fresh, refrigerated, mix breast milk
with formula in small amounts, nothing works!!! She is really sadden by
this. She keeps on pumping and freezing her milk in hopes that he will
eventually take her milk but it hasn't happened yet. Any thoughts as to
what might be causing this????? Any advice and what she could try???????

Thank you so much ladies!
