I swallowed hard and enrolled at the NBC site. I went to NBC site, and posted
on the "Baby Borrowers" site.
I am pretty sure that my posts will be deleted. I was polite, but firm about the
fact that these babies cannot give consent, and that the separation from their
mothers is dangerous.
There is a "poster" named "ReaRea" (most likely a plant from NBC) who is
cheerleading the show. Evidently, the release of the show was postponed, but
it seems to have already been filmed (there are pictures of the "teen couples"
on the site) and I think if anyone knows where the show was filmed, we need
to contact the Child Protective Services in that state.
I had heard about this show, in short a few months ago, but was unable to
obtain any information about it. Thank you for the info.
I think that more people signing on to the site, and voicing their disapproval
would be helpful. There are already a number of people who have posted
concern for the babies, but still many who think it is "good entertainment" and
don't seem to understand that babies are not toys, nor are they the property
of their parents, to be used in a manner which gives the parents money, fame,
celebrity status, and does not care about their ultimate needs. It is doubtful
that breastfeeding could have been sustained during the shooting of this
show, and of course, bottle and "schedules" were made to be a large part of
the show (in the description of the site, one of the come-ons was that the
teens would have to "endure rigorous schedules..." among other things.)
Shows like this not only harm infants, they perpetuate the myth that babies
and bottles always go together, and that breastfeeding is not all that
important.
Please, ladies, if you have a few minutes, go to the site and see what you
think. If you have a few minutes, maybe make a post or two about your
concerns for the babies, who have already been harmed, and those who may
be in the future.
