This thread has made me think about how sad and mad I get when moms get poor
service from "professionals". I had a mom that came to my New Mothers group
last week or so with a complaining, hungry baby. I said, "Oh, your baby is
tongue-tied! Does she do better when you switch back and forth on your
breasts?"
She looked at her girlfriend and said, "I've seen two other lactation
consultants and paid them good money and nobody ever told me this kid was
tongue-tied??"
We then went on to discuss why her milk supply was severely compromised at
six weeks out.

I know both the gals she saw and they are both IBCLCs. Are they not seeing
enough babies? Are they not looking? The longer I practice the more I
believe that breastfed babies are made to be very healthy and very happy.
It's a real red flag for me when they are not.
