Thanks to all with ideas - I had not written all the details as it would
take too long - but here are some I've been asked about...

Yes, I tried a nipple shield also... - I'm NOT a "natural or else" type of
LC - anything that might work...I'm willing to try...

HOWEVER it's been a couple of months since we tried that, so it might get a
different response? Never know...

I ABSOLUTELY recommended craniosacral therapy as the baby was, at first,
very "misaligned" in my view. When put on her back, she would look up and
to the left, with her back curved...

However, she and her husband refused to consider it, and the baby's body is
now "normal" at least as much as I can see - so it's hard for me to now
recommend it again, especially as MD says she's FINE! (Yes, I agree that
not breastfeeding is NOT "fine"...)

When you put her on or near mom's chest she cries and cries and cries. Has
always refused to take the (very large but everted) nipple in her mouth. I
had hoped that as her mouth grew up to the nipple she might be willing to
accept it, at first with a shield and then without - but she just goes to
such as screaming fit when near the breast/nipple that mom cannot take it -
and neither can I.

One thing I just thought of was to try mom leaning OVER baby as she's
usually on her back (thanks to "back to sleep" campaign...that's the ONLY
position I find babies even though we encourage other positions when babies
are awake - it's not a big issue with her, as she's all over the place at
this age!)

In my evaluation of her oral cavity I found no abnormal movements of the
mouth or tongue...normal oral anatomy...no tongue tie, no high palate, gag
reflex normal, not over-active. Mom's nipple is large but she breastfed 3
other kids with it...

Jeanette Panchula...off to another day of meetings in California, USA
