I have a mother in my NICU who was diagnosed prenatally with cardiomyopathy,
chronic hypertension and possible pre-eclampsia. She has been told by her
cardiologist that she should not breastfeed/pump because of her medical
condition. Mom does not feel that he is saying this because of medications. I cannot
find anything in the literature that would suggest that lactation would be
contraindicated with maternal cardiac issues. Any thoughts?
