I think we should remember everytime we do a conference and have our "sponsors" we too are at risk of losing our impartiality and raising the cost of the product. The sponsors are there with the hope that we will have our clients use their products. How much more expensive is that pump because the money sponsored a dinner or program for us at a big conference? Breastfeeding products are VERY expensive and I wonder how the cost could be cut down. As breastfeeding specialists we need to know about the products that are available, any thoughts on how we could do this without raising the cost of the product to cover the "program"?
The importance of research and the money that goes into that area also has a cost factor. The sheer number of products and the rise in prices over the last 24 yrs ,that I have been working with breastfeeding families, amazes me.
Just my 2 cents. Patty Belkin MSN PNP RN IBCLC
