Hey all,
I have a "breastfeeding page of fame" on the website that I run for my
patients where I post the names of moms and babies that have nursed for a
year (I post with their permission of course). I also give a special t-shirt at
that 1 year visit as a celebration of the nursing milestone, and have a gallery
on my wesbite showcasing the kids wearing their shirts.
A few years back, I was giving away lots of shirts ( I pay for them and it was
getting expensive) and noticed how long the list was on the page of fame and
started to joke that I should change the criteria to an 18 month length of
nursing to make the list or get the shirt. When I suggested it to the moms in
my practice, almost every woman said that she wouldn't want people to
know. I found it interesting that so many people strove for that 1 year
recognition but really didn't want anybody to know they had continued past a
year.
I'm in Wisconsin, so it's not just the south.
