Hi all
My daughter developed MRSA cysts under the skin on her neck when she was
nine days old and exclusively breastfed. (They were lanced and the fluid
cultured.) I blame the OB who performed an ARM with an amnihook while our
membrane was stretched like cling wrap over her head. She received a couple
of good scratches to her scalp as a consequence. As she was born in a
hospital, I expect that she then picked up the infection when she was
handled by the nursing staff or washed in a hospital tub.
It was a little scary but between the abx (to fuzzy at nine days to rememger
what but it was hard to find in suspension) and the breastmilk liberally
sprayed all over her at regular intervals, we were soon on top of it.
Cheers
Nina
