Regarding subject: World Breastfeeding Week in October?

"Again I'm finding August a difficult month to celebrate World Breastfeeding
Week - I realize this is the date because of the Innocenti Declaration -
however, with vacations and horridly hot Summers in my area, the activity
could be much better celebrated at another time. I know Canada celebrates
in October, which sounds a LOT better to me." Jeanette Panchula, BSW, RN,
PHN, IBCLC...in hot Northern California, USA

Lee speaking now: Hi Jeanette! I so agree with you; it also is very
difficult in my area (northeastern USA). Moms and professionals are hard to
involve in the summer. Who wants to do a walk in the hot sun? The first
week in October always seemed so great. That's why I was surprised when the
Innocenti Declaration was updated recently that it was not done in October;
that would have been an easy way to make the change.

Can the international lactation community try to do that for 2008? Some of
those involved are probably reading this right now. Let's go for it!!!!!!!

Warm regards,

Lee
