Hi again. I realize that babies born after 37 weeks are considered term, but if
they are made to come before they are ready-even a week early-could we say
they are at risk for problems. Maybe it's not so much the maturity of the baby
as it is all of the problems that arise from inducing. A baby that is ready at 38
weeks and comes on his own would probably do just fine vs. a baby born at 38
weeks by induction.
I would like to be able to give mothers and doctors information about the
problems that can arise from inducing before 40 weeks-esp. from a
breastfeeding standpoint. The info on 35-37 weekers doesn't really apply to
babies born after 37 weeks. I know what I see as a lactation consultant, but I
ned more evidence based info. Thanks again.
