Hello everyone,

I am wondering if anyone can help me please.  I am doing an article on 
"sleep training" and "controlled crying" for a mainstream parenting 
magazine here in South Africa.  We have a new, enlightened editor for 
South Africa's biggest mainstream parenting magazine and she belives 
in co-sleeping and co-slept with her kids.

For the article I am wanting to get all the information about the history 
of Ferber, and where he stands now.  I need this to be very accurate, 
because if I make a mistake I lose credibility and go for the high jump -- 
this magazine sells 35,000 copies and has an even bigger readership.

So what I am wanting to know is the following please:

1.  I believe that Ferber "apologised" at a confernence in New York in 
about 2000 or 2001.  Can anyone give me the date please and also tell 
me what he said (the exact wording) or give me a link where I can find 
that?

2.  I believe he later endorsed the family bed and appeared on TV with 
William Sears.  Can anyone tell me if that is right please, and when it 
happened and more or less the gist of what he said?

3.  I believe that he has come up with a new version of his book.  Is it 
true that he is no longer "Ferberising"?

I need very accurate information on that, but if what I have heard 
through the grape vine is true it could be a powerful point in my article, 
as his work spurned a whole generation of books on sleep training, 
written by people who thought what he suggested was scientific.  If I 
can't get accurate information on that, then I think I must leave that bit 
out of the article.

Any help and assistance you can give me would be greatly appreciated.
