I just had a torticollis mom recently. BF is definitely "possible;" the Q
is whether or not the baby can do it comfortably, and adequately. My little
guy had a tough time with a bottle, too.

What is critical is that the baby get physical therapy, and/or cranial
sacral therapy, as soon as possible. It is wonderful that this was
diagnosed so early -- often torticollis babies aren't diagnosed until 6 or 8
months of age, when they are having difficullty pushing up in a prone
position. It will be a long-term process, and the hard part is that the
physical therapy just plain HURTS the baby.

In my case, the mom found it all too overwhelming, and stopped pumping
several weeks into the game (and without telling her LC...not uncommons, I
think). Baby by then wouldn't latch at breast at all, so pumping was her
only alternative. Baby DID (and still does) enjoy lots of skin-to-skin. I
know she grieves the loss of BF horrendously.

Suggest to your mom, if she is feeling overwhelmed, that she express at
least once a day to "keep the pumps primed," rather than quit altogether.
It is easier to rev up supply than to relactate.
