I personally think, at this time , there are only 2 good reasons to use a
creamatocrit.
1. To remove fat - babies with chylothorax
2. To increase fat for babies in NICU.
to my mind one test on one sample wouldn't be effective for assessing a
mom's total daily production. We know that breastmilk changes within a
feeding and within 24 hours. One test is one glimpse. The 2 examples I
gave on use is used on all milk for all feedings.
In the original case described, transfer of milk -not quality or
uantity -seems to be the issue. I personally think that the majority of
times our cases involve transfer issues - latch, positioning etc., not the
quality or quantity of breastmilk.
Like the world, we need to trust women's bodies and believe in sufficient
quality and quantity :-) (Yes, we may see quantity issues when transfer as
been poor for a long time, but I believe quality isn't ever an issue). Pat
