The interim director, which as far as we know is temporary, has a background
and past associations that are a potential issue for some concerned IBCLCs,
and which may be a potential public relations/affairs issue.
You can probably google his name for more detail about his (past?) ties to
industry.
The IBLCE certainly needs someone with the required expertise to place and
keep the organization, which is really a business, on an even keel, if it
stays in business at all.
Could the BOD have found someone with a little better public persona,
someone with relevant and/or known lactation experience and credentials? Someone
with no research or industry ties that could be a conflict of interest,
....maybe a current or past board member could have filled the interim position
until they hired a new exec director?
Regarding finding a new executive director: the interim director, while in
his interim position, has access to every IBCLC in the world, (how do we feel
about that?) ....but anyway, that should be a good source of input.
Also wondering: has the IBLCE BOD considered hiring a professional executive
search firm to find the new executive director?
