I am really horrified to read that Destination Maternity description - and
embarrassed that I have shopped there! They are conglomerate that is made
up of a number of very popular U.S. maternity brands - Mimi, Motherhood, Pea
in the Pod. We really should all email their corporate headquarters - they are
doing a terrible disservice, as many moms may look at their "advice" as coming
from an authority.
In terms of maternity clothes in NYC, someone mentioned resale - Jane's
Exchange in the East Village (191 East 3rd Street) is a great resource. They
have maternity, nursing wear and their main stock is kids' and baby stuff -
anything from clothes to toys to strollers. I don't mean to overly plug them,
but they are a great resource for people who may not be able to afford brand
new things.
