Hello Lactnetters,
I was asked to do a short presentation in Jan. to a group of neonatal
nurses on overcoming the challenges of breastfeeding the near term infant.
(3-37 weeker) Can anyone direct me to any recent studies or papers I could
use in my presentation? I plan to do a powerpoint presentation and would
like to incorporate recent studies. Please feel free to contact me off list
at [log in to unmask] There is just so much, and I don't want to
get bogged down or go on too many wild goose chases! I would greatly
appreciate any guidance as to the best resources to use. I know from my own
experience with babies born less than 37 weeks, the challenges are:
increased jaundice, often not strong enough to transfer enough milk, fatique
easily, moms not pumping to protect their supply, shield use (how it can be
a needed crutch, but if not used correctly, can be detrimental to supply and
babies weight gain).......... what else? small baby/large nipple....
Thank you in advance!
