I so agree about the nursing pillows. How ever did all of us nurse without
such universally shaped items? How many problems are created by women trying
to breastfeed within the confines of an ill-fitting pillow, wondering what
THEY are doing wrong. I do use the very firm, popcorn foam, horseshoe shaped
pillows when it appears the mother or baby could use the stabilization.
Many of us talk about, and I do believe, that it helps to have many tools in
our toolbox for all sorts of mommy bodies and baby bodies and where the two
meet. Ever amazed, am I, that we all nursed without knowing about either RAM
or asymetrical latch on technique. It's a bit like bottle teats; every five
years or so, the one, the true and only item or method comes about. We have
learned so much and our toolboxes have expanded, I hope, without previous
ideas being abandoned. Ooh, did that rhyme? S2S and find their own way--ah,
that's so beautiful to watch.
I thought of Diane W. today when I saw the tiger nursing the baby piglets
who had a band of tiger skin wrapped around them. The mothering tiger looked
so pleased with herself. I didn't catch the whole story but I am sure it will
be on this evening. How I would love to see Diane's group following the
story with a bit on 'what mammals can do'.
So windy here in NJ that my curtains are blowing---inside closed windows.
This old Victorian is creaking and shaking. Not I, the house.
