Liz,
I fall into that 20% as well! I started my first pregnancy at 255 (where I
probably couldn't get info from the pyramid) and I steadily gained about 40
lbs in the first year of nursing! I got pregnant with my second child at
297. (And first child weaned during the pregnancy.) My body holds or to
weight amazingly well. Guess I inherited that "thrifty gene".
I also felt cheated and admittedly do NOT stressed that benefit of
breastfeeding to moms that I support because I know there are a portion of
us that it does not apply to. There are many other benefits that apply to
everyone! :)

WOW!! I thought it was my computer! Yes, I couldn't get ANYTHING when
I typed in my height and weight (I'm overweight)!! They also apparently
don't know about the 20% of breastfeeding moms who maintain, or gain,
while nursing! (Found this little gem in Adventures in Tandem Nursing,
if you want the page #, let me know, I'll go look it up for you.) Makes
me feel kinda cheated, that I get to be fat, AND get no sleep, but oh
well, my kids are healthy and I'm nursing them with no problems....
