Christina et al,
Christina states "Another problem I continue to see, over and over again is
that many nurses STILL (after many conversations) do not know how to do
accurate pre and post weights." I want to say this without sounding way
too critical, but in my old hospital the problem with that is that NI docs,
NNP's and nurses really don't value BRF so they think it's too time
consuming to do weights.
She also says "If their babies are having a lot of apnea or bradycardia,
they are not allowed to do s2s because they believe it stresses out the
baby." That is just downright wrong I wonder if they have heard of Nils
Bergman?
And finally, "Some moms give up on breastfeeding altogether, stating that
they just want their babies out of the hospital." You are so very correct;
the nurses, docs etc want to KNOW how much baby is receiving so they MUST
use a bottle and the moms hear that until they know that baby receives X #
of ounces/day they will not be discharged. It is very discouraging,
