A big THANK YOU to each of you... I learn so much through the posts and am
grateful for a place to access this wisdom.
I am an aspiring IBCLC (2008/2009, I hope!) who has been approached by a
local hospital for a job on the floor. I am not an RN but M.A. Counselling
Psych, Certified Lactation Counselor, Lactation Educator, Certified Birth &
Postpartum Doula in private practice x 10 years.(Prior to this, was a hospital
social worker x 5 years- familiar with medical terminology/mileu) I've assisted
over 700 dyads, and LOVE this work.
I recognize that there can be some debate over hospitals hiring non-RNs in
lactation, but feel I have a lot to offer, and humbly, of course, lots to learn.
Does anyone have a job description/salary range for non-RN lactation
educators in the hospital setting? Anything else you could share that might
support this position would be appreciated. I would like to influence them to
hire me.
Many thanks,
Renee Mandala
