I've enjoyed the posts about men who I hope my 8 year old will become -- comfortable with
breastfeeding and confidently able to defend women and babies who do it.

I actually had a chance to talk to my son's teacher who told me about the interchange she
had with the male teacher who did the computer class and caught the boys googling "boob"
online. The male computer teacher was truly freaked out. My son's teacher was much
calmer about the whole issue. She has been teaching for a very long time. Her take was
that their mispelling of the word "boob" gave them an incentive to learn how to spell. They
originally spelled it "bube". She felt it is a bit unfair to expect children to be curious and
encourage them to investigate and then be surprised when they take it in directions that we
don't expect. And she felt a frank matter of fact discussion of the purpose of the particular
body part in question would set them straight and remove the need to sneak a peak.

Best, Susan Burger
