Hello,
An old coworker just got in touch with me to discuss relactation. She still has
milk, so its not even a matter of relactating, just stimulating. Her baby is 2
weeks old, he was born at 35w 6d. She has to take klonopin 1.5 mg daily as
an anticonvulsant. She told me she researched it in Hale's book during
pregnancy and knew it was an L3, so she planned to bf. She went through a
rough time when the baby was born, tried to initiate bf in the NICU and states
they told her she she was going to poison her baby with her the klonopin. She
is very upset and has such a strong desire to bf her baby, but is now so
scared bc of the "poisoning" comment. I am collecting all of the info I can on
this med so she can share it with her MD and maybe get a bf green light. So
beyond lact med and Dr. Hales book, if anyone has any personal experience
with working w/ moms on the med, can you please email it to me so that I can
pass on to my friend? Thank you so much.
-Heather
